Yes, finally the first month of the new year is almost finished. New year means new slate as I slowly drift away from hip-hop past and transition to comics. The change has been unique for me since I never thought that I would see my name on a comic book. Yet, there it is DeadWatch. My own parents were in awe at the fact that they see one of their sons actually releasing a comic...in print. I mean my parents always told me that they were "proud" of me, but never proud of me. My wife thinks I'm a damn celebrity since I spent all that time telling her that I'm gonna publish my comic and now here I am reading to my kids the useless adventures of DeathWatch.
I have been super busy this month, which is pretty good considering it's the first month of the year. I opened the publishing doors for other creators to come in and get their comics exposed. I am in the process of finishing up the Sato mini-series. Issue 1 should be out soon. I am planning on doing a KickStarter campaign to help us get the pre-orders for Sato #1 started as well as fund the artwork and printing for the rest of the series.
I even started on a graphic novel, but I'm keeping the details on the down low until I finish it. I don't really want to take the food from my kids' mouth for this project. So I will be running a pre-order campaign for this book through KickStarter as well.
The reason why I'm going through KickStarter is because I want to actually send the books to people who actually will read and enjoy the stories.
Unfortunately, my day job will be running it's course sometime this year, so I'm really debating whether I should put my webcomics on hold, so I can focus on getting some lettering projects and on my writing. It really sucks since this day job was the only way we were able to eat and support my comics. Now I'm gonna be twice as aggressive with my projects. I hope this works out for the best.
I turn to you, my supporters, to help me out even more in this year.
Thank you all,
Eric (Cire Designz)
